Rights group ‘Ain o Salish Kendra’ (ASK) expressed deep concern over the recent violence in Khagrachhari, which left three dead, many injured, and numerous homes and businesses destroyed.

ASK called for a judicial inquiry commission to identify the culprits and ensure justice for the victims.
The clashes, reportedly sparked by land disputes, led to widespread arson and vandalism. ASK criticized local authorities for delay and negligence that worsened the situation.
The organization pointed out that flawed government policies and lack of preventive measures often trigger violence in the Chittagong Hill Tracts, threatening peace and national unity.
ASK emphasized that Bangladesh’s ethnic diversity is a strength and urged authorities to reject violence and intimidation.
It stressed the government’s constitutional duty to protect all citizens’ lives and property. ASK demanded compensation and rehabilitation for affected families and warned that failure to protect citizens would have serious consequences for society.
