Online Desk : Bangladesh received US$2.85 billion in remittances in July, the first month of the 2026–27 fiscal year, marking a 15.4 percent increase compared with the same month a year earlier, according to the latest data from Bangladesh Bank.

The country received $2.47 billion in remittances in July 2025.

The central bank’s data show that expatriate Bangladeshis sent $152 million through official banking channels during the final two days of July (July 30–31) alone.

The strong performance at the beginning of the new fiscal year reflects the continued growth in remittance inflows, supported by government policy incentives and the increasing use of formal banking channels by overseas Bangladeshis.

Economists say the steady inflow of remittances is expected to strengthen the country’s foreign exchange reserves, ease pressure on import payments and contribute to overall macroeconomic stability.

Remittances remain one of the key pillars of Bangladesh’s economy alongside export earnings, providing vital foreign currency inflows while supporting household consumption across the country.
