Hasina ‘History’s Worst Fascist’: Rizvi

Online Desk : BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Advocate Ruhul Kabir Rizvi today described ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina as “the worst and most despicable fascist in history,” alleging that her administration was marked by authoritarianism, corruption and repression.

“Cruel fascists and Nazis across the world maintained power through force, but there is a fundamental difference between them and Sheikh Hasina,” he told reporters after visiting a photo exhibition on the July Mass Uprising and the political movements of the past 17 years in Gulshan.

Rizvi said fascist leaders such as Adolf Hitler and Benito Mussolini carried out mass killings through ethnic cleansing and racial persecution but sought to make their own countries powerful.

“Unlike Adolf Hitler or Benito Mussolini, Sheikh Hasina was involved in money laundering, bank looting, stock market plundering and the illegal grabbing of government land,” he alleged.

According to the BNP leader, although Hitler and Mussolini were “terrible killers and fascists,” they still loved their own countries.

“In contrast, Sheikh Hasina’s primary agenda was to loot the entire nation to establish her relatives abroad. For this reason, I consider her the most despicable fascist in history,” he said.

Rizvi further alleged that the Awami League government had been involved in bank fraud, stock market irregularities and the looting of state property.

He also claimed that the Awami League retained power through force and electoral manipulation.

The senior BNP leader alleged that people from different professions—including students, journalists, restaurant workers and shop employees—were killed during political movements between 2009 and August 5, 2024.

Describing the July Mass Uprising as “a massive awakening” and “a nuclear explosion of the people’s innate strength” against oppression, Rizvi claimed that Sheikh Hasina had failed to recognise the people’s power and repeatedly attempted to remain in office through what he described as farcical elections.

He further alleged that almost no countries supported her government and claimed it had remained in power through force.

Rizvi said people from all walks of life had fought to uphold democratic values, including democracy, freedom of expression, press freedom and an independent judiciary. He added that they would not hesitate to take part in similar movements again if necessary.
