Online Desk : The Election Commission (EC) on Wednesday announced the schedule for the presidential election, with voting set to take place on August 20 at the Jatiya Sangsad session hall.

EC Secretariat Senior Secretary Akhtar Ahmed announced the election timetable at the Election Commission Bhaban in Agargaon.
According to the schedule, nomination papers must be submitted to the office of the Chief Election Commissioner between 10:00am and 4:00pm on August 13.
The scrutiny of nomination papers will be be held at the EC Bhaban from 10:00am on August 16, while the deadline for withdrawing candidature is 4:00pm on August 18.
Voting will take place from 2:00pm to 5:00pm on August 20 at the Jatiya Sangsad session hall.
Speaking to reporters, Akhtar Ahmed said the schedule was announced in accordance with Section 5(3) of the Presidential Election Act, 1991, following consultations with the Speaker of the Jatiya Sangsad.
He also said the voter list for the presidential election has already been prepared and that the remaining administrative formalities will be completed before polling.
