PM to Inaugurate July Mass Uprising Memorial Museum Tomorrow

Online Desk : Prime Minister Tarique Rahman is set to inaugurate the July Mass Uprising Memorial Museum on Wednesday, marking the opening of a new institution dedicated to preserving the history and legacy of the July Mass Uprising.

The Prime Minister will formally open the museum by unveiling its plaque at 9:00am as the chief guest, Cultural Affairs Minister Nitai Roy Chowdhury announced at a press conference held at the Secretariat on Tuesday.

The minister said the museum would remain open exclusively for invited guests and the families of those who died during the July Mass Uprising on the inauguration day. It will open to the general public from August 6.

Following the inauguration, the Prime Minister will tour the museum’s galleries and exhibitions, where artefacts, photographs, documents and memorabilia related to the July Mass Uprising have been preserved.

According to the minister, the museum has been established to preserve the memories of the July Mass Uprising, present its history to future generations and honour the sacrifices made by those who lost their lives and participated in the movement.

The inauguration programme will include speeches by participants in the July movement and family members of those killed, who will share their experiences and memories of the uprising.

A documentary highlighting the events of the July Mass Uprising, public participation and its outcome will also be screened during the ceremony.

The cultural segment will feature patriotic songs, recitations and performances by prominent artistes, reflecting the spirit of the uprising, patriotism and democratic values.

The programme will conclude with a vote of thanks from the Director General of the July Mass Uprising Memorial Museum.

Tickets for the museum will be available online. Entry fees have been set at Tk 50 for adults and Tk 25 for children.
