Chandpur District Jamaat has relieved Hafez Md. Ilias Hossain, the Amir of Gandharvapur North Union under Haziganj Upazila, from his party position.
Md. Mozammel Haque Majumdar Paran, the deputy Amir of Haziganj Upazila Jamaat and former vice chairman, said that with the approval of the central committee of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, the district Jamaat has removed him from his post due to his Facebook post and the related clash.
Earlier, Hafez Md. Ilias Hossain, the Union Jamaat Amir of Haziganj, shared distorted images of BNP’s acting chairman Tarique Rahman and BNP’s central committee co-international affairs secretary Barrister Rumin Farhana on his personal Facebook page. This led to a clash between BNP and Jamaat supporters in which 29 people were injured.
On Friday morning (October 3), when party officials went to Palishara village in Gandharvapur North Union to question him about the matter, a clash broke out between both groups.
The controversial images were shared by the Union Amir on Thursday night.
