BNP Standing Committee member Salahuddin Ahmed clarified that for his party, PR stands for Public Relations—connecting with people ahead of the February general elections.
He emphasized that this is the type of PR the BNP supports, rejecting efforts to impose proportional representation, which he claimed aims to create ongoing unrest but will ultimately fail.
Speaking at the 46th founding anniversary of the BNP, Salahuddin paid tribute to party founder Ziaur Rahman and addressed reporters about the current political climate.
Salahuddin Ahmed said that to his party, PR means Public Relations or connecting with people, which “everyone is now engaged in ahead of the February general elections.”
The country is now in an election mood, with candidates actively engaging with the public, He said.
He warned that any party attempting to disrupt the polls or create confusion would face political rejection by the people.
Salahuddin also accused certain local and international forces of conspiring to obstruct Bangladesh’s democratic transition. Despite this, he expressed confidence in the unity of the Bangladeshi people, stating that any disruptions or conspiracies—whether local or foreign—would be resisted firmly by the public.
