The July National Charter 2025 will be signed on 17 October instead of 15 October in Dhaka to facilitate wider public participation.
This fresh decision was made at a meeting of the National Consensus Commission (NCC) held on Saturday at the state guesthouse Jamuna, with Chief Adviser Prof Muhammad Yunus in the chair.
After the meeting, NCC Vice-Chairman Prof Ali Riaz said the signing of the July National Charter is a historic event.
“To ensure the participation of interested citizens, the ceremony will take place on Friday (17 October) afternoon at the South Plaza of the Jatiya Sangsad,” he said.
On 9 October, the National Consensus Commission announced that the July National Charter would be signed on 15 October (Wednesday) afternoon.
The historic signing ceremony will be led by Chief Adviser of the Interim Government and Chairman of the National Consensus Commission Prof Muhammad Yunus.
At the Saturday meeting, it was also decided that representatives from various political parties and alliances will attend the ceremony. Besides, representatives from different social and professional groups will be invited there.
National Consensus Commission member Badiul Alam Majumdar, Cultural Affairs Adviser Mostofa Sarwar Farooki, and Chief Adviser’s Special Assistant Monir Haider attended the meeting, among others.
