Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus urged the younger generation to actively support the growth of Bangladesh’s tourism industry in a message on the eve of World Tourism Day 2025. He highlighted that the country is celebrating this day along with the world under the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism’s initiative.

Prof Yunus emphasized that tourism is now globally recognized as a key driver of sustainable development and plays an important role in Bangladesh’s socioeconomic progress. He noted that tourism helps develop tourist regions and raises awareness about preserving the nation’s heritage, culture, and environment. This year’s UN theme, “Tourism and Sustainable Transformation,” aligns well with these goals.

Describing Bangladesh as a promising tourist destination in South Asia, he praised the country’s rich history, natural beauty, architectural landmarks, diverse ethnic cultures, unique cuisine, and warm hospitality—all factors attracting both domestic and international visitors.

The interim government is committed to harnessing tourism’s potential for sustainable development through integrated efforts. These include conserving the environment and biodiversity, protecting local culture, generating jobs, supporting small and cottage industries, reducing single-use plastics, and improving waste management.

Prof Yunus called on everyone to act responsibly to address unemployment and poverty while protecting the environment by promoting tourism’s benefits. He wished success for the World Tourism Day programs across the country.
