Police foiled a Jatiya Party rally in front of the party’s central office at the capital’s Kakrail on Saturday afternoon.

The incident took place around 3:45 pm when, according to party activists, police suddenly used water cannons and fired several sound grenades while speeches were being delivered at the rally.

No casualties were reported in the incident.

Ashiqur Rahman, inspector (operation) of Ramna Police Station, said the Jatiya Party had arranged the rally without obtaining prior permission, prompting the police to stop it.

Earlier, on 6 September, an attack and vandalism took place at the Jatiya Party’s central office in Kakrail. Another attack was also reported there on 30 August.
