Rashed Khan, General Secretary of Gan Adhikar Parishad, stated that undisclosed politics will lead Bangladesh towards factionalism.
He criticized the current government for rehabilitating the Awami League under the guise of reform and called for transparent politics.
Speaking at the National Democratic Party’s anniversary discussion at Engineers Institution in Dhaka on October 4, he said India wants elections involving the Awami League, and all parties must engage openly.
Rashed Khan also questioned the demands surrounding the July Charter’s implementation for elections, saying it is unfair to insist elections cannot happen without full execution, as this government cannot fulfill the charter entirely; the next government must bear that responsibility.
He accused the government of shifting blame onto the people and claimed that while the government distributed promises of reform and justice, it is actually rehabilitating the Awami League.
He held this government accountable for mistakes made by some advisers and stressed that the responsibility lies with them and the former anti-discrimination movement’s liaison committee.
