I wish I were a child

I wish I were a child
Wandering lonely as a cloud
Nothing to care about
Like a host of troth

I wish I were a child
Watching TV news, so proud
They stretched in a never-ending line

The world I view in time
I wish I were a child
Couching on a chair with a restful pride
Thinking about daydreams again and again
Carefree days without pain
I wish I were a child

Sleeping peacefully on my father’s bed
Nothing would stop me
Oh, let those days return to me
Like Heathcliff and Catherine’s endless chime
Drenched with splashes of rain.
Running along the green field here and there
Amid a blue sky with no more fear.
