One Lakh Army Personnel to Be Deployed for Next Election: Adviser

The government plans to deploy around one lakh members of the Bangladesh Army to ensure security during the 13th parliamentary election, scheduled to be held in February next year, Home Affairs Adviser Lt Gen (retd) Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury said on Wednesday.

Speaking to reporters at the Secretariat, the adviser said law enforcement agencies are fully prepared for the upcoming polls, and their training activities have already started.

“Members of the army, navy, and air force will be engaged in election duties. At present, about 30,000 army personnel are deployed in the field, and this number will increase to nearly 100,000 during the election,” he added.
